About Us

Our Story

The Ruth Initiative was conceived during a mission trip to Uganda. While doing street ministry, alongside a local pastor, one of our members met a young girl who had been trafficked. Together, we advocated for her release and ensured the safe return to her village but it was discovered that she was without parents and her situation was not safe. Moved with compassion, the pastor and his family welcomed the girl into their home as one of their own.

Over 10 years prior, the pastor and his wife ran a successful school which was forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic. As they prayed about reopening, they felt led to focus on orphaned and vulnerable children. At the same time, across the globe, a woman was experiencing a similar stirring in her heart. Neither knew how their paths would soon cross but that divine encounter during a simple mission trip became the spark that ignited THE RUTH INITIATIVE.

On the flight home from Uganda, we began laying the groundwork: forming the 501(c)(3), building partnerships, gleaning from experienced non-profit organizations, equipping and training the pastor for his calling, helping him secure NGO status, and preparing for the birth of something beautiful.

That is how this ministry was formed. Now we are stepping out in faith to invite others to join us and to nurture this vision and help it grow.
